zsh: 'no matches found' for arguments containing * or ? (e.g. supervisorctl restart 'group:*', --include=*.py)

Problem
A command copied from Linux docs fails in zsh before it even runs: zsh: no matches found: worker:* (also seen with grep --include=*.swift, scp host:*.log, pip install pkg[extra]).
Solution
zsh treats unquoted *, ? and [ ] as filename patterns and, by default (nomatch option), aborts the command when nothing matches, instead of passing the text through like bash. Quote the argument: supervisorctl restart 'worker:*', grep --include='*.swift', pip install 'pkg[extra]'. Alternatively prefix the command with noglob.
Environment
zsh 5.9 (macOS default shell)
Evidence
zsh -c 'echo worker:*' -> zsh:1: no matches found: worker:*. zsh -c "echo 'worker:*'" -> worker:*.
